RESTORATIVE YOGA

Restorative Yoga is another application of yoga asana used to help the body heal and restore itself. It is designed to slowly and gradually open the body while prompting the parasympathetic nervous system to come online and initiate a healing response.​ Restorative yoga is slow and grounding, holding no more than five poses in a one-hour class.

This style of yoga utilizes props such as bolsters, blankets, blocks, and sandbags to help the practitioner feel supported in their practice. Typically, restorative classes do not have standing asanas incorporated into their sequences.​ Restorative Yoga is used for healing as well as injury prevention, and an increased flow of energy.

YOGA NIDRA

Go deep within yourself to understand the relationship between consciousness, mind, and body with the ancient yogic practice of Yoga Nidra, yogic sleep with awareness. Yoga Nidra is taught to help students master their sleep, to engage and gain control of the autonomic nervous system, to reduce internal tension, and to help alleviate many illnesses and diseases of old age. 

Adaptive Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is suitable for individuals who are unable to participate in a traditional yoga class, due to aging, injury or disability. Chair yoga deepens flexibility, increases range of motion, and strengthens personal body awareness. Clients can learn many kinds of yoga postures, breathing techniquesmeditation, and relaxation methods with the support and assistance of a chair.

Adaptive Yoga Benefits:
● Increases circulation – Range of motion movements in the feet, legs, knees, hips, shoulders and elbows help the general well-being and function of the heart.
● Aids heart and lung functions – The breathing techniques used in this approach are very effective for people with emphysema and asthma and aid in heart function.
● Improves mental clarity – Following the directions and guidance of a yoga teacher challenges the brain and supports the mind/body connection for better mental processing.
● Reduces aches and pains – Gentle movements lubricate and nourish the joints and connective tissue to ease the pain of arthritis and other neuromuscular conditions.
